Dear Sister,

You have given me two of the most wonderful Christmas gifts. The first is this print by Brother Max Schmalzl. I have long loved and admired his work even though I have seen very little. The second is the photo of the Nativity altar at the mount. As a novice I and one of my classmates decorated that altar for what was our first Christmas away from home...and what was one of the best ever.

We began our celebrations with sung Solemn Vespers in the Mount's chapel where our dear sisters joined us. Sr. Moira was a novice "classmate" of sorts. Then we celebrated Midnight Mass in the church of the old monastery followed by cookies and eggnog. It is a Christmas I will never forget.

Please give my regards to all my Redemptoristine sisters. Know that you are in my thoughts and prayers. May the King of Heaven descending from the stars bless you and all the readers of this blog with his love, light, and peace this most Holy Night and always.
